How to Calculate Pipe Weight (Engineering Formula)

Pipe weight is determined by calculating the volume of the hollow cylindrical metal shell multiplied by the material's specific density:

1. Cross-Sectional Metal Area Formula

$$\text{Inner Diameter } (ID) = OD - (2 \times WT)$$

$$\text{Cross-Section Area } (A) = \frac{\pi}{4} \times (OD^2 - ID^2) = \pi \times WT \times (OD - WT)$$

2. Steel Pipe Weight per Foot Formula (Imperial Shortcut)

$$\text{Weight (lbs/ft)} = 10.69 \times (OD - WT) \times WT$$

3. Steel Pipe Weight per Meter Formula (Metric Shortcut)
